A painting by the German artist Bartholomäus Bruyn the Elder (1493-1555). The depicted woman is Elisabeth Bellinghausen (1493-1555), daughter of Professor Peter Bellinghausen, chancelor of Cologne, and wife of Jakob Omphal (1500-1567, a jurist and also a chancellor of Cologne, his portrait was the pendant of this painting). The flower she is holding in her hand is Bittersweet nightshade (Solanum dulcamara). Painting from 1538-1539.
