Willem Claesz. Heda: Still Life with a Gilt Cup (1635)
(Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, Netherlands)
Heda specialized in near monochromatic still lifes. The main color on this painting is grey but Heda manages to use this simple palette to create an allmost photograhic-like picture. Still lifes were a populair type of painting in the 17th century and this is a good example. The large green glass in the center is a roemer, a wineglass. On the far right you can see a berkemeyer.
