Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) is an artist who doesn't need an introduction. Born on 30 March 1853 in Zundert, The Netherlands, he started painting when he was young. His best known paintings come from the so-called Arles-period (1888-1889), the last 2 years from his life. The sunflowers is perhaps his best known work. He painted this subject 5 times, this is the version from the Van Gogh museum with 15 sunflowers and comes from the period of January 1889.
