Giotto di Bondone: Scenes from the Life of Christ - The Ascension of Christ (1304-1306)

Today it is Ascension-day so a fresco related to this from the Italian master Giotto di Bondone (1266-1337). According to the New Testament the resurrected Jesus was taken up to Heaven from The Mount of Olives (Mount Olivet) in the presence of 11 of his apostles (Judas Iscariot committed suicide after betraying Jesus, his place was filled after the Ascension by Saint Matthias). The ascension took place 40 days after the resurrection (=Easter). Fresco from 1304-1306.
