Anonymous: Christ Blessing, Surrounded by a Donor Family (1573–1582)

An altarpiece by an anonymous 16th century northern German Painter. The identity of the donor family is unknown but it is likely that they came from Hamburg - on the orb in Christ’s hand the church spires of Hamburg is shown. The 4 German texts in the background are bible quotes which deal with salvation and afterlife and are taken from the Bible translation of Martin Luther. This means that this family is Lutheran. Painting from 1573–1582.
