Dirck van Cats: Portrait of an elegant couple (1622)

A painting by the Dutch artist Dirck van Cats (active 1607–1632). This painting is 1 of the 3 which were signed by Cats. The other 2 paintings are almost identical and show a couple but with a different background: a winter scene with ice skaters and a market scene of vegetables. Because of this is is thought that these pieces are a set of the four seasons, this one being an allegory of the summer. Painting from 1622.
