A painting by the British artist Augustus Leopold Egg (1816-1863). Two women, almost dressed identical are facing each other: one is reading a book while the other one is sleeping. They are sitting is a moving train (the swinging tassel of the window shows that there is movement. The landscape in the background is the coast near Meudon in southern France. Painting from 1862.
