Copy after Jheronimus Bosch: The Conjurer (16th century)
(Philadelphia museum of art, Philadelphia, USA)
A painting by an unknown 16th century follower of the Dutch artist Jheronimus Bosch (1450-1516). This piece is based upon a painting by Jheronimus Bosch which shows a 'conjurer'. The conjurer is performing a game of cups and balls to a crowd. The true focus of the painting however is the man on the left who is leaning in, totally fixated upon the game and also unaware that in the meantime a thief is stealing his money purse. there are al least 5 version of the painting of Bosch. On this one the artist has added several scenes of the right: three men are sitting around a table and behind the fence is a cow who is reading a book! Painting from the 16th century.
The original version: Jheronimus Bosch - The Conjurer (1502)
