Adolph Tidemand & Hans Gude: Bridal Procession on the Hardangerfjord (1848)

A painting by the Norwegian artists Adolph Tidemand (1814-1876) & Hans Gude (1825-1903). Adolph Tidemand and Hans Gude were both romanticist national painters. The piece is a collaboration of both artists: Gude made the landscapes and Tidemand the bridal party. The painting offers a view of the famous Hardangerfjord in the Southwest of Norway. Several small boats a rowing from a church in the background. In the first boat is the bride with her bridal crown, in the second boat is the groom who is tipping his hat. In the other boats in the distance are the guests of the wedding. Painting from 1848.
