Antonio del Pollaiuolo: Battle of the Nudes (1470-80)
(Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, USA)
An engraving made by the Italian artist Antonio del Pollaiuolo (1433-1498). This piece is one of the earliest Renaissance prints to portray the nude male body in action. It is not clear if this shows a particular story or historical event or that is was used as a model for workshop apprentices studying human anatomy while learning to draw. Engraving from 1470-1480.
