Diego Velázquez: Portrait of Don Diego de Acedo (1645)

A painting by the Spanish artist Diego Velázquez (1599-1660). This painting was commissioned for the Torre de la Parada, a former hunting lodge of the Spanish kings near the royal palace of El Pardo. Velázquez contributed to this lodge four paintings of jesters and court dwarfs. This painting shows the court dwarf Don Diego de Acedo who had an administrative job at the 'Estampa', the office were official documents received the royal seal. The book next to Don Diego de Acedo was added to show the seize of Acedo. Painting from 1645.
