An engraving by the Flemish artist Peeter (or Pieter) van der Borcht the Elder (1530-1608). This genre scene is inspired by Pieter Brueghel the elder. In the middle sits the bride, she is surrounded by her family, guests who bring gifts and a notary who records all the gifts. The guests themselves are enjoying themselves with food and beer. On the right side food is being prepared and distributed to the poor. On the left side is couple making love and a man who is relieving himself. Print from 1560.
