Hans Holbein the Younger: Portrait of Lady Heveningham (1532-1543)

A drawing made by the German artist Hans Holbein the Younger (1497-1543). This drawing is part of a large set of portraits of members of the Tudor court. Although the inscription specifies the name of the Lady Heveningham, her identity is not certain: either she is Mary Shelton (1510/15–1570/71), daughter of Sir John Shelton and second wife of Sir Anthony Heveningham or she is Anthony Heveningham's mother, who was also a member of the Shelton family.
