A painting made by an unknown Indian artist. The Buraq is a mythical creature in Islamic tradition which served as a transport for certain prophets such as Abraham and Muhammad. The creature is shown here with the face of a young woman. Its body is a composite of many small animals, fish, and birds. Painting from 1660-1680.
