Georges de La Tour: The Fortune-Teller (1630s)

A painting by the French artist Georges de La Tour (1593-1652). This piece shows the moment in which a young man is having his fortune told by the old woman at right. As the young man is engrossed in the fortune-telling, the other depicted women are stealing various items from the man: his coin purse and a medal worn by the man from its chain.
