Albert Robida: Going to the Opera in the Year 2000 (1902)

A lithograph made by the French artist Albert Robida (1848 – 1926). Albert Robida is best known for his trilogy of futuristic works. The books are a nineteenth-century conception of life in the twentieth century. This piece shows a futuristic view of air travel over Paris as people leave the Opera. Many types of aircraft are depicted including buses and limousines, police patrol the skies, and women are seen driving their own aircraft. Piece from 1902.
