A famous American Civil war (1861-1865) photo by the American photographer Andrew J. Russell (1829–1902). The photo shows a group of soldiers which have been identified as Union soldiers of General William William T. H. Brooks's First division,John Sedgwick's VI corps, Army of the Potomac, during the Chancellorsville Campaign. Date of the photo is May 2, 1863 - 1 day before the Second Battle of Fredericksburg (May 3, 1863). Twenty minutes after this photo this unit was attacked by confederate solders but these were repulsed and driven back. Photo from 1863.
