(Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA)

Today (march 29th) is Palm Sunday. Therefore a painting which reflects this feast. Palm Sunday is the sunday before Easter and commemorates the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. According to the story in the Gospels, Jesus rode on a donkey (an animal of peace) into Jerusalem and the people greeted him by laying down their cloaks and palm-leaves singing 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord'. Painting from 1617.
