Anonymous: The procession of Cornelis van den Bogaerde (1687)

(The David Collection,  Copenhagen, Denmark)

This is the second part of the miniature with Cornelis van den Bogaerde, i posted the first one at May 20, 2015 (http://art-in-space.blogspot.nl/2015/05/anonymous-darbar-of-cornelis-van-den.html). On this miniature Cornelis van den Bogaerde is depicted with a small procession with a Indian entourage. The different garments, headgear, beards, and skin color show that they are Muslims, Hindus, and the famed Rajput warriors. The two leading Indians carry banners of the Dutch East India Company (V.O.C.). Painting from 1687.
