Lucas Cranach the Elder: Portrait of a young lady holding grapes and apples (1528)
A fine and very typical painting from the German artist Lucas Cranach the Elder (1472-1553). The woman on the painting is dressed in an expensive and elaborate dress (today known as a 'Cranach Saxon Court Gown') with a plumed hat and jeweled necklace. The identity of the woman in unknown, several names have been suggested from Sibilla Freiin von Schenck-Winterstein to women from the old testament. Painting from 1528.
