Jan Cornelisz Vermeyen: The Spanish courtesan (1545)

An engraving by the Dutch artist Jan Cornelisz Vermeyen (1500-1559). Vermeyen was a court painter for the Spanish crown and traveled with Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. An engraving of a woman, the city on the left looks a Spanish city so Vermeyen made this during his travels. On her platform shoes in the right corner is a heart with an arrow suggesting that she is a courtesan. Engraving from 1545.
