Alart du Hameel: Young couple with a fountain (1478-1494)

(British museum, London, UK)

An engraving by the Flemish artist Alart du Hameel (1450-1506). A young man and a woman, lovers, are standing by a fountain with the man holding a lute and a music book on the ledge of the fountain. On top of the fountain is a putto who is pissing in the fountain! Sitting next to the fountain is jester who is lifting up the dress of the woman - suggesting what is to come. Engraving from 1478-1494.
