(Statens Museum for Kunst, Kopenhagen, Denmark)
A painting by the Flemish artist Cornelius Norbertus Gijsbrechts (1630 - 1675). Cornelius Norbertus Gijsbrechts specialized in 'Trompe l'oeil' - a painting with the illusion that the depicted two-dimensional objects are real three-dimensional objects. This painting is a good example of this technique: the painting is of the backside of a painting, creating the illusion for viewers that the painting with the wrong side towards them. Painting from 1670 - 1671.
