a painting by the Danish artist Paul Gustav Fischer (1860-1934). Fischer is best known for his scenes of city life, especially of Copenhagen. This piece shows a group of firemen on Kultorvet (literally "The Coal Market"), a public square in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. The firemen are busy with fighting a fire with a large crowd of spectators - notice the steam fire engine on the right. Painting from around 1900.
