An illuminated page made by the workshop of the 14th century Italian artist Cristoforo Orimina. This page comes from the Hamilton Bible, named after its owner Alexander Hamilton, 10th Duke of Hamilton (1767-1852), who collected manuscripts. This book was most likely commissioned by Queen Joanna I of Naples for viscount Guillaume III Roger de Beaufort or for his brother pope Clement VI. This page has 16 pictures which show the book of Genesis: the creation of the world, the creation of man and woman, the tree of knowledge of good and evil, the expulsion from the garden of Eden, Cain and Abel, Noah and the great flood, Abraham etc. Book from around 1350-1360.
