(Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Paris, France)

A drawing made by the 13th century French artist Villard de Honnecourt. This page comes from a book from Villard which today is interpreted as a sketchbook. the book contains about 33 pages and has about 250 drawings of people, architectural designs, animals, mechanical devices, designs for war engines etc. It is not known what the intention was (if any) of the book as the author does not mention this. This page shows two wrestlers and an architectural design. the text at the bottom explains that the design is the "the plan of the chevet of Notre Dame Sainte Marie de Cambrai as it was built". Book from 1225-1235.
