Anonymous: The Divine Triad (A.D. 1st century)

(Louvre Museum, Paris, France)

A sculpture made by unknown artists. This piece was discovered at Bir Wereb near Palmyra and shows 3 gods. From left to right:

- Aglibol, a lunar god from the city of Palmyra.
- Ba'alshamin, a sky god from Palmyra where he was considered as one of two supreme gods (the other one was Bel)
- Malakbel, a sun god from the city of Palmyra

All three are depicted in military garb which is a mix of Roman and Persian/ Parthian style. Sculpture from the A.D. first century.
