(National Gallery, London, UK)

A painting by the German artist Wolfgang Heimbach (1615-1678). Heinbach served as a court painting of king Frederick III of Denmark-Norway (1606-1670) from 1653 to 1663. This painting was made during this period and shows a rather arrogant looking unknown man. the background shows the city of Copenhagen so the man is most likely a Danish merchant/ regent. Painting from 1662.
