Anonymous: Le Grand Armorial équestre de la Toison d'or (1430-1461)

(Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal, Paris, France)

Four illuminated pages made by an unknown French artist. These four pages come from the book "Le Grand Armorial équestre de la Toison d'or" (= "The great armorial of the knights of the Golden Fleece"). This book was probably commissioned by a herald who was closely connected to Jean Le Fèvre de Saint-Remy, the first herald of the order. The book contains the heraldic symbols of the members from its foundation in 1430 until 1461. These four pages show:

- top left: The Duke of Normandy
- bottom left: The King of France
- top right: The Count of Flanders
- bottom right: The Duke of Guelders

Pages from 1430-1461.
