workshop of the Master of Lluça: Christ Pantocrator (1200 - 1210)

A panel made an unknown Spanish artist. This altar piece shows a Christ in Majesty/ Christ Pantocrator. Around Christ are the symbols of the four evangelists: the angel of Saint Matthew; the eagle of Saint John; the lion of Saint Mark, and the bull of Saint Luke. In each corner are other Biblical scenes: the angel on Christ’s tomb, the three Marys, Noli me tangere (Christ with Mary Magdalene) and The Raising of Lazarus. This panel was in the chapel of Mary Magdalene in a country house at Solanllong near Ripollès. Panel from 1200 - 1210.
