Carel Christiaan Antony Last: Triumph held on the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo (1865)

A lithograph made by the Dutch artist Carel Christiaan Antony Last (1808-1876), after a drawing from the Dutch artist David van der Kellen (1804-1879). Depicted here is a triumph held on the Dam square in Amsterdam, held on18 June 1865. The occasion was the fiftieth anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo (18 June 1815). The large building on the left is the Royal Palace of Amsterdam, the large monument in the centre is the "National Monument in memory of the national spirit of 1830-1831 or 'The Unity'. This monument was removed in 1914 as it was falling apart. Lithograph from 1865.
