Arthur Hacker: The Temptation of Sir Percival (1894)

(Leeds Art Gallery, Leeds, UK)

A painting by the English artist Arthur Hacker (1858 – 1919). This painting shows a scene from Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur, a book about King Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot, Merlin and the Knights of the Round Table. Sir Percival is a knight of the Round Table who went on a quest to find the Holy Grail. During that quest, the devil in the form of a beautiful woman tried (and failed) to seduce sir Percival. Painting from 1894.
