A painting made by the English artist William Etty (1787 – 1849). This painting shows a scene from the poem "The Faerie Queene", written by Edmund Spenser in 1590. The scene depicted here shows how the female warrior Britomart slays the evil magician Busirane and frees his captive, the beautiful Amoret. Painting from 1833.
